CYCLE NYC

nEW yORK, nEW yORK

New York City’s current infrastructure will not be enough to answer the socio-environmental challenges of this century. The numbers show New York City commuters claim some of the worst commuting times nationwide.

For a city that boasts an extensive, and heavily utilized, public transportation network it is surprising that year after year commuting times for New Yorkers seem to hover above the 38-minute mark.

A closer look reveals a systemic inefficiency and overall misuse of the existing types of public transportation in place: the dialogue between commuters and public transportation relies heavily on the Subway as the primary method of transport, and criminally underutilizes other forms of transport.

Cycle NYC is an urban infrastructure proposal that seeks to reinvent New York as a bicycle friendly city of the 21st century.
