- LocationNew York, NY
- TypeUrban Infrastructure, Proposal, Research
New York City’s current infrastructure will not be enough to answer the socio-environmental challenges of this century. For a city that boasts an extensive and heavily utilized public transportation network, New Yorkers are surprised year after year that commuting times seem to hover the mark above 38-minutes. A closer look reveals a systemic inefficiency and overall misuse of the existing types of public transportation in place: the dialogue between commuters and public transportation relies heavily on the Subway as the primary method of transport, and criminally underutilizes other forms of transport. Cycle NYC is an urban infrastructure proposal that seeks to reinvent New York as a bicycle friendly city of the 21st century.
