17 East 9th Street Townhouse is an existing, pre-war Greenwich Village brownstone that was purchased by ARGO Real Estate in 2018. Designed by architect Workshop/APD, the renovation and expansion project aims to convert the former ground floor dental office and upper floor apartment units into a 7-story luxury townhome. Originally a 4-story structure, this landmarked building will include additions of a 3-story vertical expansion of the rear bulk and at roof level.

Büro Ehring is providing full building enclosure design services and structural engineering design services for the project. The building envelope scope involves retrofitting the existing multi-wythe, load-bearing brick masonry exterior and party walls, below-grade waterproofing design for the new concrete slab, underpinning walls, and existing rubble foundation, as well as semi-custom curtain wall system in the rear yard, new brick veneer cavity wall, new bluestone slab clad ventilated rainscreen bulkhead, and new bluestone paver terrace roof.
