A/D/O Greenpoint is a former industrial warehouse turned multi-purpose creative space for designers, artists, and creatives alike dedicated to “expanding the reach of design.” Founded by MINI, the space features dedicated studio spaces, a fabrication lab, project storage, retail, a restaurant, bar, and exhibition space. A/D/O hosted many events, from art exhibitions to community discussions, before announcing its permanent close in 2020.
Additional Information
The scope comprised of the structural design and analysis for the warehouse adaptive reuse, including structural bolt upgrade and alterations to the building structure, new glass façades, and a signature “kaleidoscope” glass skylight. Various portions of the existing exterior masonry wall had to be removed to accommodate the new storefront and entrance systems - new lintels were installed to span these new openings. Strengthening of the existing wood and steel roofing and installation of new steel framing supported increase roof loads and the signature kaleidoscope roof opening.
