The new building for the Korean American Presbyterian Church of Queens is located adjacent to the existing Church on Ash Avenue in Flushing, Queens. The new structure will provide spaces for a predominant sanctuary on the main second floor, a smaller sanctuary in the basement, rehearsal space, office space, classrooms, a multi-purpose fellowship space, and multiple roof terraces for the Church community.

Additional Information
Büro Ehring provides full structural engineering services for the project. To accommodate the Church’s complex, sloping geometry and desire for a vast, columnless sanctuary space on the 2nd floor, a steel frame superstructure was designed to include braced steel shear walls, and a concrete foundation system. The loads from the 3rd and 4th floor spaces overlooking the sanctuary are transferred to the steel members on the building’s envelope through full height trusses.
